South Africa has a great shortage of skilled welders, bricklayers, plumbers, fitter and turners, diesel mechanic, electricians, and boilermakers. These specialised workers, referred to as artisans, are especially key in driving the engineering and manufacturing sector.
The EBMTC Academy was founded in 2019 to meet the growing demand for qualified artisans. The Academy offers artisans training programs and has invested in state-of-the-Art modern machinery and equipment that prepare learners for a career as an artisan. Each learner is guided by an experienced facilitator to develop not only their technical skills but the workplace knowledge necessary for a successful career as an artisan.
The goal of the Academy is to empower working class people through both theoretical and practical training. Artisans with a variety of skills have great mobility in terms of their career and are not limited to one particular field. Experienced artisans make valuable supervisors and the Academy supports artisans with entrepreneurial aspiration. A practical and theoretical approach is therefore vital in order that learners can reach their full potential.
