Carmen holds a Bachelor of Business Science with Finance Honours and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. She is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charterholder. Her professional journey began at Deloitte, where she completed her accounting articles, focusing on the finance sector, before transitioning into the investments sector.
Carmen’s career is marked by her roles as a credit analyst, investment analyst, and portfolio manager responsible for various equity portfolios. Her investment coverage spans both global markets and South African equities, working with multinational and local asset management firms over the past 17 years. She has specialised in sectors such as mining and resources, healthcare, food, and apparel retailers.
Carmen is currently an independent consultant as well as undertaking the role of non-executive director on various boards and as the chairperson of audit committees.
